Claude pricing: what each plan costs in October 2026
Claude Pro costs $20 a month (about €18 excluding VAT) or $200 a year (about $16.67 a month; Anthropic rounds it to $17). Here are all the plans with their source and date, and a guide to choosing.

The two Max levels (5x and 20x) come from Anthropic's help center; the pricing page only shows "from $100". According to that help page, prices on the website can differ in the mobile app. Annual payment exists for Pro and Team. Max is monthly only and Enterprise is annual only.
What "more usage" means in each plan
Claude does not sell a fixed number of messages. Each plan gives an amount of usage that renews every 5 hours, and paid plans add a weekly limit. It is similar to a mobile data plan: you pay a fee and have a cap that refills. Unlike data, Anthropic does not publish how many messages fit, because it depends on how long and difficult each request is.
The Claude chat (web, desktop and mobile) and Claude Code draw on the same pool of usage. If you spend the afternoon working in Claude Code, you will have less left for chat.

What each plan includes
Free
Chat on web, desktop and mobile, web search, file creation and code execution, memory, connectors, Artifacts, Claude Design, Skills and up to 5 projects. It does not include Claude Code, Research (long research with a report) or the Opus model.
Pro
Everything in Free, with at least 5 times more usage per 5-hour session. It adds Claude Code, Research, unlimited projects, more models (Opus among them), delegating and scheduling tasks, Claude in Chrome and Microsoft 365.
Max
Everything in Pro with 5 or 20 times the usage of Pro per session, higher output limits, early access to new features, priority at busy times and monthly API credits ($100 on Max 5x and $200 on Max 20x).
Team
For teams of 2 to 150 people. It includes Claude Code, central billing, single sign-on (SSO), admin controls over connectors and no training on your content by default. You can mix standard and premium versions, and up to $500 a month of shared API credits.
Enterprise
Everything in Team plus spend limits, role-based access control, audit logs, custom data retention and network access control. $20 per person a month with annual payment, minimum 20 people, and usage is billed separately at API rates.

Which plan suits you
This is our reading of the published prices, not a recommendation from Anthropic.
One person starting out
Start with Free and move to Pro when you run out of usage or need Claude Code or Research. With annual payment, Pro costs $200 a year (about $16.67 a month; Anthropic rounds it to $17).
Freelancer
Pro. Team needs at least 2 people, so a freelancer working alone cannot buy it. Max makes sense if you regularly use up your Pro allowance.
Team of 5
With Team standard that is $100 a month with annual payment or $125 with monthly payment. Five Pro accounts with annual payment would be $85 a month: $15 cheaper, but each person pays for and manages their own. Team buys central billing, connector administration and no training on content by default.
Company
Team goes up to 150 people. Enterprise starts at 20 people and adds auditing, roles and custom data retention. If your company needs those controls under internal rules, that is the plan; if not, Team is usually enough. To plan the roll-out, see our page on Claude for business.
Billing and VAT in Spain
- The prices on Anthropic's page exclude applicable taxes.
- The billing address of your paid account decides the tax jurisdiction. If that address allows it, a field for a tax or VAT ID appears (Anthropic help page, updated 6 Aug 2026).
- Anthropic does not say on those pages which VAT rate applies to an address in Spain. Check the payment summary before you confirm.
- If you invoice clients or deduct the expense, how much you can deduct is for your accountant to decide, not this page.
- Pro and Team can be paid yearly. Max only monthly. Enterprise only yearly.
- From the European Economic Area, within the 14-day withdrawal period, you can ask for a refund from the app.
What it costs in euros
Anthropic shows dollars to someone visiting its pricing page from Spain (we checked on 16 Oct 2026 with a connection from Madrid) and does not publish a table in euros. This is our approximate sum, using the European Central Bank (ECB) reference rate of 16 October 2026:
- Pro: $20 a month, about €18 excluding VAT.
- Max 5x: $100 a month, about €89 excluding VAT.
- Max 20x: $200 a month, about €178 excluding VAT.
- Team standard: $25 per person a month, about €22 excluding VAT.
The calculation is this: the price in dollars divided by that day's rate, plus VAT if it is added. The exchange rate changes daily and your bank or card may apply its own. To see the real amount, log in and open claude.ai/upgrade: Anthropic warns that currency and taxes vary by region (Team plan help page). That logged-in screen is the euro figure that counts, and we have not checked it.

How much does Claude cost?
Claude has a free plan and paid plans. Is Claude free?
Yes, there is a Free plan at $0 with chat on web, desktop and mobile, web search, memory, connectors and up to 5 projects. It does not include Claude Code or the Opus model.
Do Claude prices include VAT?
No. Anthropic states on its pricing page that the amounts exclude applicable taxes. The tax added depends on the billing address of your paid account.
Can I pay for Claude in euros?
Anthropic's pricing page shows dollars to a visitor from Spain (checked on 16 October 2026). What you see at checkout when logged in at claude.ai/upgrade we have not checked, and Anthropic says currency and taxes vary by region.
How much does Claude cost for a team of 5?
With the Team standard plan that is 5 people: $100 a month with annual payment or $125 a month with monthly payment, excluding tax. This is our own sum from the published per-person price.
Can I get a refund?
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom and within the 14-day withdrawal period, you can ask for a refund from the app, according to Anthropic's pricing page.
