Claude vs ChatGPT: prices and plans side by side
The individual paid plan costs $20 a month on both. What changes is the currency you see it in, the VAT and what each plan includes.

OpenAI's page loads the amounts with JavaScript, so we read them from the pricing configuration that feeds that same page, not from fixed text. Confirm them at chatgpt.com/es-ES/pricing before you pay. The United States figure (Plus at $20) comes from the OpenAI help center.
We left out the Business premium version because we could not be sure which plan that amount belongs to.
What each one includes
Free plan
- Claude: chat on web, desktop and mobile, web search, file creation, memory, connectors, Skills, Claude Design and up to 5 projects. No Claude Code, no Research (its long-research-with-a-report feature) and no Opus.
- ChatGPT: text chats, limited file uploads, images, voice, long research with a report (deep research), memory and limited access to Codex, OpenAI's assistant for writing code.
Individual paid plan
- Claude Pro: at least 5 times the usage of the free plan per session, Claude Code, Research, unlimited projects, Opus, and delegating and scheduling tasks.
- ChatGPT Plus: advanced reasoning models, long research with a report, expanded memory, Projects, scheduled tasks, custom GPTs and expanded Codex.
The two lists look alike: projects, scheduled tasks and an assistant for writing code. That equivalence is our reading, not the companies'.
Teams
- Claude Team: 2 to 150 people, in a standard or a premium version (5 times the usage of the standard one).
- ChatGPT Business: from 2 users. Monthly or annual payment.

How to choose without being sold to
We use Claude every day, so we have a preference. We have not measured which assistant writes a better email or handles a spreadsheet better, and we will not invent a winner. What you can do in one afternoon:
- Pick a real task from your week, for example replying to a client with a quote.
- Give each assistant the same brief, with the same data.
- Correct the result as if a new intern had written it. Keep the one that needs less correcting.
If the task is writing code or automating work on your computer, compare Claude Code with Codex (OpenAI's assistant for writing code). If you need custom assistants inside ChatGPT, that feature appears in its Plus plan. For exact prices in euros: the one OpenAI publishes includes VAT, while Anthropic's has to be read at claude.ai/upgrade once you are logged in.
Frequently asked questions about Claude and ChatGPT
Is Claude or ChatGPT cheaper?
In dollars, the individual paid plan costs the same: Claude Pro is $20 a month and ChatGPT Plus is $20 a month in the United States. In Spain OpenAI publishes ChatGPT Plus at €23 a month including VAT, while Anthropic shows Claude Pro in dollars and excluding tax, so the exact comparison in euros depends on the exchange rate and on VAT.
Which is better, Claude or ChatGPT?
We do not know and we will not pretend to. We have not measured which one answers better for your kind of work. What is published is the price and the extras of each plan, which this page compares. Try both free plans on your own task.
Does ChatGPT include something like Claude Code?
OpenAI lists Codex, its assistant for writing code, in its plans: limited access on the free plan and expanded access on Plus. Claude Code is in every paid Claude plan and not in the free one. They are different tools and we have not compared their results.
Can I use both?
Yes, they are separate accounts with their own subscriptions. If you work in a team, read the data terms of each business plan first.
